Monwabisi Kalawe - - Chief Executive Officer: Tsebo Catering Solutions
Monwabisi has 20 years of business experience and has held senior posts in a number of companies over his career. This includes time as CEO of Rheinmetall Denel Munition and as COO for TFMC, as Executive Officer at Airports Company SA and as a Member of the Executive Board of its parent company, Compass Group. Monwabisi has also served as Country Managing Director and COO of Compass Group SA. Most recently, Monwabisi was CEO and Executive Director of South African Airways SOC. He is Chairman of CGSA at Supercare Services Group and a member of SAIEE. Monwabisi holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Natal University.
Kenneth Fussell - - Chief Operating Officer
Ken graduated from Blackpool Hotel School in the United Kingdom and holds a National Diploma in Hotel and Catering Operations. He's a member of the Hotel Catering and Institutional Management Association and held various management positions with then Grandmet Catering Services (now Compass PLC) in the UK from 1979 to 1984. He became Deputy General Manager at Both Worlds Hotel in Gibraltar before joining Fedics in 1985, taking a position based in KZN. In 1989 he became the Operations Director for Fedics Food Services Transvaal and this was followed by appointments as Specialist Services Director and Managing Director Coastal Region for the growing Fedics organisation. After a period of time in Australia as CEO of an event and hospitality company, Ken returned in 1996 as Managing Director of Fedics Food Services before he was appointed to his current position as Chief Operating Officer in 2004.
Alan Bruens - - Finance Director
Alan is a seasoned finance professional, with previous tenures as CFO in the private equity arena, WG Wearne Ltd as well as andBeyond Travel (Pty) Ltd (formerly CC Africa). Alan is a Chartered Accountant and his corporate history has involved him in financial management, turnaround strategies, corporate and operational restructuring, cash flow management, bank debt negotiations, business acquisitions and disposals, as well as capital raising. Alan is married and has 3 children aged 19, 17 and 11. He enjoys spending time with his family, getting out into the bush and is a keen scuba diver.
Royce van der Zwan - - Marketing Director
Royce van der Zwan joined Tsebo Solutions in 2009. Before that he was Head of Consulting for InDeed Strategy Consultancy South Africa, a global strategy consulting practice. Royce's experience is broad, including 6 years with H.J. Heinz Company operating across their European businesses, a variety of operational roles for Nandos and Tiger Brands in South Africa, and 5 years with Accenture. Royce holds a BScoSc (hons) in business management from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from Cambridge University in the UK.
Dave Govender - - Procurement Director
Dave’s previous roles prior to joining Tsebo included those of Strategic Projects Director at Shanduka Group and Technical Operations Director at Nando’s SA. Earlier senior management functions over a 10-year period at Coca-Cola SA ranged from audit and supplier management to environmental and corporate affairs to eventually heading up commercialisation and special projects. As Group CPO, Dave is responsible for leading the strategy, tactical execution and management of the total procurement effort across Tsebo Group. His diverse strategic and operational experience spans 20 years in the FMCG sector which will enable him to excel in his new duties at Tsebo. He has also gained invaluable M&A, governance and cross-sector experience as non-executive director on the Boards of Alexander Forbes, Macsteel, Seacom, TBWA and Helios Towers.
Themba Gezane - - Sales Director
A lawyer by training, Themba's Sales career began when he joined Transtel in 1998. He then moved on to ICT Sales by joining Business Connexion (Comparex Africa at the time) as a Sales Executive and went on to work with market leaders Dimension Data, Datacentrix Holdings, Hewlett Packard Africa Team and Aptronics, where he continued to climb the management ladder. He has operated within various industry sectors including the Public Sector, Corporate, Financial, Oil and Gas and Telco. He also has extensive sales exposure throughout Africa. All this experience has shaped him into a highly effective sales strategist.
Vusani Nthini - - Human Resources Director
Vusani joined Fedics in April 2016 as Regional HR Manager responsible for Inland regions (Corporate and Commercial) and was promoted to the position of Human Resources Director for Tsebo Catering Solutions on December 01 2017. He has 18 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, responsible for managing and leading people practices in line with business goals and priorities. Throughout his career, Vusani has held different senior HR management and leadership positions for Companies such as Royal Mnandi, Royal Serve Cleaning, Ster Kinekor Theatres, Shearwater Adventures and Private Label Promotion. Vusani holds a Master’s Degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources from Nelson Mandela University and is currently registered for a PhD in Employment Relations at University of Johannesburg.
Melissa Taylor - - Managing Director: Inland Corporate
Melissa joined Tsebo in 2011 as the Head of Strategic Projects for the Catering Division before taking on the role of Managing Director of the Inland Corporate division in 2016. She is a graduate of the Wits Hotel School, and during her early career worked at hotels in resorts in Italy, Germany and the UK. Since then she has held various senior management positions in Operations, Strategic Account Management, Projects and Marketing, including 14 years at Compass Group SA. Melissa also holds a MAP from the Wits Business School and an SMDP from GIBS.
Jack Ferreira - - Managing Director: Inland Commercial
Jack started his career in the hospitality industry attending Hotel School in 1977 and received excellent food and beverage exposure in two of the country's finest hotels, The Mount Nelson and The Carlton, the latter of which sent him to Cornell University to attend its Summer School. He joined Fedics in 1985 as a District Manager at SABC and has since held a number of positions, including Operations Manager, Director of Training, Director of Operations and Regional Director. He has participated in a number of value driver projects, including the formation of the Institute for Hospitality Studies, Value Chain Management and the implementation of an Integrated Business System.
Neil Bulmer - - Managing Director: Cape
Neil Bulmer joined The Tsebo Group in 2009 as Regional Director, Fedics Natal and Swaziland, and has a broad experience in the industry that includes business plans, contracts, tenders and budgets, delivering on sales and growth objectives, recruitment of line and regional managers, succession planning, quality control, and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients at all levels.
Russell Jordan - - Managing Director: KZN and Swaziland
Russell Jordan joined Tsebo Solutions Group in 2009 as an Operations Director, now Managing Director for Fedics Kwa Zulu Natal and Swaziland. Russell has broad experience in the industry that spans more than 25 years across all sectors, of which 15 years has been at executive level. He has managed businesses and served on Joint Venture Boards in most Southern African countries. Russell completed his studies at Wits Business School.
