Four Fedics Leisure staff members based at Carnival City - Garledi Nkosi, Jacob Phungwayo, Dineo Mthembu and Thembisile Nkosi - were recently dished up a delight by The Afrisun East Rand Community Trust chairman and trustees the form of a life-changing bursary. Each candidate received a R140 000.00 In Service Chef Program bursary that allows them to further their careers through the programme run for a three year period at HTA International Chef School in Randburg. The dedicated men and women chosen for this fantastic opportunity have all been of service to Fedics, Carnival City and Afrisun since 2000. Their commitment to Fedics and to hospitality and service ensured them the full three year HTA International Chef training program. The In Service qualification comprises an annual six week Block Release component which provides the learners with the theoretical inputs not usually obtained in the workplace. According to Jack Ferreira, Regional Director for Fedics Inland, the subjects covered in the programme will raise the skills of these committed staff members, and enable them to further not only their studies, but their careers with the company. They include: Says Afrisun Spokesperson Sandy Hattingh: "For the past 10 years we have invested millions in Ekurhuleni, changed many lives and assisted communities to grow. This is a gesture of thanks in recognition for the hard work and long hours of these men and women. We are sure that they are ready for the challenge and will make us all proud." Ferreira adds: "Fedics is proud of the service our staff offers and is particularly proud of the four members chosen for this programme.
